Harvest Yield Analytics – 10/24/25

Harvest Yield Analytics (HYA)

The model captures real-time yield results from commercial seed company trial results during the fall harvest season. Yields from seed plot trials are then compared to historical seed plot trials (2020–2024) in the same region and used as a predictor for average county yields. It’s important to note these results are not fully representative of every acre or growing condition, but they provide valuable directional insights into harvest outcomes.

Harvest Yields Steady as USDA Data Remains Offline

With USDA data still offline, Quantum Hedging’s Harvest Yield Analytics (HYA) continues to provide one of the most complete, real-time looks at 2025 harvest performance. This week’s data — covering nearly 75% of corn counties and 68% of soybean counties — show stabilizing yield trends across much of the Corn Belt as harvest nears completion.

Corn: Flattening Out Into the Finish

Corn yields have largely leveled off, with the national composite running +0.9 bu/ac above 2024. Strength in South Dakota (+21.1), Minnesota (+15.4), and Ohio (+11.9) continues to offset weakness in Iowa (−11.8) and Illinois (−7.2), where late-season dryness limited recovery. The latest map highlights a clear north–south and east–west divide, as the northern tier and Ohio Valley hold steady while the central Corn Belt struggles to match last year’s output. Overall, HYA suggests the USDA’s 186.7 bu/ac forecast remains achievable, though further upside looks limited.

Soybeans: Balanced and Resilient

Soybean yields continue to show +2.8 bu/ac above 2024, right in line with USDA’s 53.5 bu/ac projection. Gains are widespread, led by Kansas (+13.6), Ohio (+5.7), Indiana (+5.4), and Nebraska (+5.3), while North Dakota (−5.0) and Missouri (−0.3) trail slightly. The yield map reveals a predominantly green pattern across the Central and Eastern Corn Belt — signaling regional balance and an above-trend finish as harvest winds down.
